As a Traveling Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical construction projects from start to finish. You will lead project teams, ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, and maintain strong client relationships. This position requires flexibility to travel frequently to project sites across the United States, with the first assignment based in Southern Virginia.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of mechanical construction projects, ensuring that all aspects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Budget Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring all expenditures are tracked, and costs are controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
Scheduling: Create and manage detailed project schedules, coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure milestones are met.
Team Leadership: Lead, supervise, and coordinate the efforts of project teams, including engineers, field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide project updates, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Quality Control: Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and applicable codes and regulations.
Safety Management: Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and best practices, conducting regular safety meetings and site inspections.
Contract and Document Management: Review contracts, change orders, and submittals, ensuring all documents are in order and legally compliant.
Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the project remains on track.
Travel Requirements: Travel to various job sites nationwide as needed, with the first project based in Southern Virginia.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical construction project management, preferably in HVAC, plumbing, piping, or similar mechanical systems.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of mechanical construction processes, systems, and industry standards.
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, or similar).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Solid understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and contract management.
Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or LEED certification is a plus.
Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel frequently to different project sites across the country.
