Start out as a year long contract and can go up to two years or turn permanent.
The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for delivering optimal client experience, operational effectiveness, and efficiency through function activities necessary to control and ensure a timely and accurate payroll tax filings and payments. The Payroll Tax Analyst adheres to SOPs, participates in the development of strategies and objectives; aids in identification and implementation of process improvements and efficiencies.
Making an Impact • Ensures all policies, procedures, and legal requirements are being followed and enforced. Helps create and execute action plans to address performance deficiencies. Integrates system enhancements and updated policies and procedures and ensures appropriate understanding and execution • Resolve issues and complaints from internal and external customers to ensure the highest level of customer service • Responsible for recommending ways to continually improve own workflow, the department workflow, and delivery of solutions for the customers of the functional area. Responsible for bringing issues to management and presenting options for solutions. • Make sound decisions which have the potential to impact multiple jobs and employees within the department or closely linked departments. Many recommendations and projects will have client, vendor, and broader organizational impact
Sharing Expertise • Ensure accurate and timely processing of tax filings and payments for U.S. Canada and Puerto Rico Federal withholdings (W-2, T-4, and RL-1), state withholdings and unemployment taxes. • Correct reconciliation errors where needed to prepare/file amended returns as necessary • Research and respond to Federal, State and Local tax agency tax notices
Gaining Exposure • Builds and maintains collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers, as well as payroll process stakeholders, partners and suppliers • Resolve issues and complaints from internal and external customers to ensure the highest level of customer service
Your Typical Day • Works on special projects as required, including acquisitions, mergers and divestments, internal and external audits, W2 and W2c balancing, and T-4s • Ensure accurate and timely processing of tax filings and payments for U.S. Canada and Puerto Rico Federal withholdings (W-2, T-4, and RL-1), state withholdings and unemployment taxes. • Correct reconciliation errors where needed to prepare/file amended returns as necessary • Research and respond to Federal, State and Local tax agency tax notices • Assist with reporting requirements for the Dept. of Labor Reporting, Multiple Worksite Reporting, and Bureau of Labor Statistics
Qualifications - External
Required • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience • Minimum of five to seven years' experience in payroll tax
Nice to Have • Progressively responsible payroll tax experience in a complex, multi-line multi-state business environment
