Our client is seeking a creative and highly skilled sensory leader to represent the consumer perspective in the product development process. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Development, this role will oversee and support a team of sensory scientists.
This role involves collaboration across multiple departments and levels of the organization. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering innovative products, has expertise in sensory evaluation and flavor creation, and stays ahead of industry trends.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead sensory programs to support innovation and research initiatives
Manage and mentor a high-performing sensory team to ensure product excellence
Present sensory insights and lead tastings for internal stakeholders and clients
Partner with cross-functional teams to align on consumer research needs and translate findings into actionable insights
Oversee sensory panels, budgets, and vendor relationships to build advanced testing capabilities
Analyze data to inform decision-making and recommend process improvements
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Sensory Science, Food Science, Psychology, or a related field
8-10 years of sensory and consumer research experience, ideally within food and beverage
Strong knowledge of sensory and consumer research techniques, software, and statistical tools
Proven ability to manage sensory panels, train teams, and lead sensory labs
Effective project management, communication, and organizational skills
Experience conducting consumer research and supporting innovation initiatives
