Position: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA (or Virginia Beach / Hampton)

Work Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7am-5pm, Friday 7am-11am

Pay Range: $80K-120K

Travel: Local client site meetings, but no overnight travel

Overview:

Insight Global is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to support one of our commercial clients in the facilities design industry in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program, and a minimum of 2 years of related experience in facilities engineering with commercial and government facilities. This individual will be responsible for the full lifecycle of facilities design projects including scoping, bids and proposals, design, installation, and commissioning. The candidate must be willing to work a hybrid schedule in office 3 days per week in Richmond, Hampton, or Virginia Beach, VA. An EIT or PE is preferred but not required for this role.

Responsibilities:
• Lead all aspects of mechanical engineering design, with a focus on HVAC, including studies, design analysis, calculations, equipment/system selection, and layout.
• Meet with clients to determine scope, manage mechanical project components, and ensure goals, budgets, and deadlines are met.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and ensure compliance with quality control standards.
• Oversee the preparation of mechanical design documents, including schematics and construction documents.
• Provide mechanical support during bidding and construction phases, handle RFIs, and prepare as-builts.
• Develop commissioning proposals, conduct project reviews, and prepare Operation and Maintenance Support Manuals.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in K-12, office, commercial, retail, data centers, and/or government projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license in Virginia; LEED Accreditation preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Additional Requirements:
• Design and construction administration experience across various sectors.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with different teams.
• High level of client responsiveness and commitment.
