The Nurse/LPN is responsible for most of the direct contact with patient. Their duties generally include providing routine care, observing, medicating, performing withdrawal assessments (COWS, CIWA-A), as needed, assisting doctors and registered nurses, and communicating with patients and their counselor and therapist.
Interacts routinely with patients, observes behaviors, and communicates significant observations to the multidisciplinary team as necessary.Assists RN in facilitation of admissions and discharge planning.Collects and records patient's vital signs, and documents in the electronic medical record in a comprehensive accurate and systematic manner.Assists RN in triage of screening patients.Participates in patient treatment planning.Completes the admissions process from body search to assessmentsCompletes initial nursing assessment (A-1) within 24 hours of the patient admissionProperly and safely handles narcotics Properly counts narcotics at the beginning and end of every shiftCompletes COWS/ CIWA scales 3x a day for detox patients and 2x a day for residential patientsCompletes at least one nursing note per shift including admission day and discharge dayAdministers medications to patients and engages in education process.Knows and understands the companys policies and procedures.Assesses patients needs to see a provider for H&P, discharge, if needed for medications or illness. Supervises and instructs patients in medication administration/self-administration, including the preparation and giving injections as ordered by the medical provider.Obtains lab specimens as ordered by the medical provider.Performs all duties and other tasks as assigned.
