PDS Optical is a SDVOSB Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that manufactures a very large number of eyeglasses each day. We have Optical Laboratories in Louisville, KY and Fort Lauderdale, FL and manage many optical stores across the US and Puerto Rico. PDS Optical is looking for a Customer Service Department Supervisor to join our dedicated team. If you have a keen eye for detail, a commitment to quality, and the skills to motivate others, we want to hear from you.

The Customer Service Supervisor is responsible for processing orders for company products and services, expediting and coordinating the flow of work within or between internal departments, and reviewing agreements or proposed agreements for conformity to company rates, rules, and regulations.

This is a full-time position with normal days being Monday through Friday. The schedule may vary slightly but the employee must be available during the "core" hours of the shift. Hours will be discussed during the interview.

Must have at least one year's experience in the Optical field and have demonstrated good supervisory skills. You must have good computer skills and working knowledge of standard computer equipment.

Salary will be based on relevant experience.

Essential Functions

  • Provide customer service and problem-solving by phone, fax, or email to customers, account representatives, outside physicians and fitting sites, and employees when necessary.
  • Knowledge of pricing for all accounts processed
  • Knowledge of frames, lenses and fitting of eyewear to ensure accurate processing.
  • Investigate and solve problems related to materials, workflow and/or equipment, and personnel shortages; determine which problems should be referred to the Lab or Operations Manager.
  • Assist in the regulation of safe work practices and conforming to standards and established procedures and participate in company safety programs.
  • Performing training and guidance as necessary to ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Maintain a cooperative atmosphere with associated employees and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Supervise attendance within the department including PTO, Call Ins, Points, etc.
  • Must have leadership qualities in order to directly supervise employees in Data Entry, Customer Service and Billing positions.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws as well as setting a standard of conduct through examples and actions.


Work Environment

This position operates mostly in an office setting located adjacent to an optical laboratory. The temperature can vary, the noise level such as phone ringing may be slightly distracting with many interruptions. This position also requires working in close proximity to a diverse group of other co-workers.
