Description: We are working with a large food manufacturer in the Cleveland market seeking a 3rd Shift Production Supervisor. This person is responsible for overseeing and optimizing production operations during the overnight shift. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and technical skills to ensure efficient production processes, adherence to food safety and quality standards, and employee safety. Food industry experience is not required but highly desired.
Responsibilities:
Production Planning and Scheduling:
Review and execute daily production schedules to meet production targets and customer demands.
Monitor production progress and make adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Coordinate with other shifts to ensure seamless handoffs and continuity.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and motivate a team of production workers to achieve production goals and maintain high morale.
Provide training and coaching to employees to improve skills, knowledge of food safety, and performance.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that prioritizes food safety and quality.
Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts promptly and effectively.
Food Safety and Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain rigorous food safety and quality control procedures, including HACCP and GMP.
Monitor product quality and identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain food safety and quality standards.
Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations, such as FDA and USDA.
Equipment Maintenance:
Monitor equipment performance and identify maintenance needs.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform preventive maintenance.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve food safety.
Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to eliminate waste and reduce costs.
Encourage employee suggestions for improvement and foster a culture of innovation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP.
Proficiency in using production management software and systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Strong understanding of food safety and quality control principles.
