Job Details:

Mercer University’s Stetson-Hatcher School of Business (AACSB-accredited) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting on Mercer’s Atlanta campus beginning August 2025.


Responsibilities:

Primary duties for the Assistant/Associate Professor position are teaching three face-to-face, hybrid, or online courses (at the graduate level) per semester (a 3/3 teaching load), publishing in high quality (e.g., ABDC list) peer-reviewed academic journals, and participating in school and university committees. Candidates are expected to teach Auditing and Advanced Auditing courses, including using analytics software used in large CPA firms.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Accounting or business-related concentration and meet the requirements to be Scholarly Academic (SA) under AACSB Standards. Candidates that have completed all but the dissertation will be considered at the rank of Instructor until the PhD is obtained. Candidates should have demonstrated research capabilities and strong teaching effectiveness. Candidates need to demonstrate ability to effectively teach advanced auditing that employs technology used by major CPA firms. Rank will be determined by experience and demonstrated abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least two years audit industry experience, at least three years teaching experience (with favorable teaching evaluations), and/or a CPA license are desirable. Successful applicants will share in Mercer’s Mission and Vision (https://www.mercer.edu/about-mercer/mission-and-vision/).
