The Asset Protection Manager Organized Retail Crime (ORC) will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs for retail stores to identify and arrest organized retail crime shoplifters. This position will be responsible for supervising a team who work with law enforcement and government agencies to affect arrests outside of the stores in a safe and defined manner. The Asset Protection Manager Organized Retail Crime (ORC) will speak on behalf of the company to law enforcement agencies, government officials and ORC groups regarding ORC laws and enforcement practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Job Responsibilities
Design programs for surveillance and reporting in stores to identify known repeat shoplifters' patterns and make law enforcement aware of their activity; work with law enforcement to apprehend these shoplifters in a safe and controlled manner.
Manage a small team of ORC Investigators, teaching them how to identify organized retail crime and how to put together a case report for maximum success when shared with law enforcement.
In partnership with law enforcement, conduct surveillances on suspected ORC shoplifters to determine where product is taken when they leave the stores; locate fencing operations and obtain video evidence when possible.
Respond to store incidents quickly and thoroughly, leaving the impression of partnership and professional response.
Make recommendations to retail leadership on product protection and theft deterrence initiatives used commonly throughout the industry.
Attend regional ORC meetings with other retailers and law enforcement to gain knowledge and best practices currently in use by others.
Communicate wins to both Asset Protection and operational partners in a professional, consistent manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 5 years relevant experience required
LP Foundation LPC certification preferred
Experience:
Former law enforcement experience preferred
At least 2 years in a management role required
Experience in investigation/report writing/court appearances required
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
Well organized
Creative and self-motivated
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Skilled with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Ability to gain cooperation through influence
Ability to hold others accountable
Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
