A growing real estate and financial services company in Baltimore, Maryland seeks a highly skilled Controller
Responsibilities
Lead and direct all accounting operational functions
Establish polices and procedures within the department as needed
Prepare internal and external financial statements
Manage and complete audits
Maintain and establish policies and procedures for effectively recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions
Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
Develop and monitor business performance metrics
Manage multiple balance sheets
Manage cash flow across multiple balance sheets
Oversee daily processing of deposits, wires, payables
Analyze monthly reporting for upper management in connection with all DFS companies
Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
Locate and resolve accounting discrepancies
Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
6-8 years of related experience with 3 years of supervisory experience
Strong experience working with QuickBooks
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word proficiency
Analytical thinking skills to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results and/or relationships
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in mortgage related fields a plus
Real estate knowledge is a plus
