Job Description:

Element6's client is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. This position will play a pivotal role in solution development operations, ensuring stable, highly available, and fault-tolerant environments. The Senior DevOps Engineer will collaborate with diverse technology teams, researching and implementing new technologies to align with the company's goals. Reporting directly to the VP of Infrastructure and Operations, this position requires a self-starter who can drive automation initiatives, maintain a secure and efficient infrastructure, and promote best practices across teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and shape automation roadmaps for technical capability advancement.
  • Conduct research to enhance toolchains with best practices.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to plan, deploy, and sustain on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
  • Ensure robust security controls are in place for all assigned projects.
  • Develop and support automated release management and production (e.g., Blue/Green deployment).
  • Define application metrics and deploy monitoring tools.
  • Document processes to meet project and organizational standards.
  • Facilitate cross-training sessions to advance automation knowledge within IT.
  • Collaborate with various IT teams (development, data, infrastructure, security) to validate requirements.
  • Communicate issues, risks, and changes to the development team leadership.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of technical experience, or at least 9 years in a highly automated software engineering environment. Equivalent education and experience combinations will be considered.

Technical Proficiency:
  • 4+ years of coding experience in an object-oriented, functional, or scripting language.
  • 3+ years managing containerized environments (preferably with Kubernetes, Docker, Linux).
  • 2+ years in CI/CD pipeline creation, ideally within Azure DevOps.
  • 2+ years maintaining web servers (e.g., IIS, NGINX).
  • 1+ year using Terraform for automated environment deployment (Ansible knowledge is a plus).
  • Experience securing and monitoring a service-oriented environment, such as service mesh.
  • Demonstrated application of security best practices in automated solutions.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with a passion for automation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in iterative delivery processes.
  • Thorough understanding of job-related State and Federal laws and regulations and company policies
