Our client, a custom equipment manufacturer specializing in aerospace, sterilization, and environmental chambers, is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their growing team!
This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on training under the current Purchasing Manager and prepare to take over their responsibilities, as the manager transitions into a new role within the next 4-6 months. As part of a small procurement team, you will manage purchasing across a variety of categories, including metals, electronics, materials, equipment, tools, and parts, with an emphasis on building and maintaining strong vendor relationships. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the production of custom equipment, where no two machines are the same. Ensuring timely delivery and effective vendor management will be crucial to your success.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and collaborates closely with production teams to meet purchasing needs on time. You should have experience in custom equipment manufacturing, piping, or electrical environments, with a solid background in purchasing components such as transformers, power supplies, wiring, valves, sheet metals, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage the purchasing across all categories needed for the production of custom machinery, including materials, tools, electronic & power components, and other supplies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors while actively identifying new suppliers to meet project needs.
Foster strong vendor partnerships through clear communication, negotiation, and ongoing support to ensure high levels of customer service.
Ensure timely delivery of parts and materials by effectively coordinating with vendors and internal teams.
Oversee the preparation of requisitions and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications.
Prioritize and manage multiple requests to ensure critical items are purchased and delivered on time.
Once promoted, lead and mentor a team of 3-4 buyers to ensure smooth procurement operations and continued success in vendor management.
Requirements:
At least 5 years of purchasing experience in a custom equipment manufacturing, piping, electrical, or fabrication company.
Experience with procurement of metals & electronic components is highly desirable.
Proven ability to manage vendors and ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Self-motivated and efficient, with excellent time management skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and work effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and contract documents.
Salary: 100,000 - 115,000
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8a-5pm
Location: Southampton PA (Onsite)
