The Demand Planner is responsible for all forecasting and S&OP activities for their assigned portion of the business. The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models while also incorporating market intelligence and forecast information gathered from a variety of sources, including new customer development and product lifecycle management. These activities will cycle monthly and allow this individual to provide thorough handoffs to the supply and procurement teams to ensure suppliers are ready to support our inventory needs. The successful individual will be analytically strong, along with being influential and supportive of cross-functional partners. This position reports to the S&OP Manager.

The Demand Planner is the intersection point between commercial requirements and handoff to supply chain for translation into a working supplier forecast. This position leads the dialogue and alignment in the monthly cycle of the S&OP process.

RESPONSBILITIES:
  • Create demand forecasts:
  • Execute statistical modeling
  • Review resulting statistical forecast model
  • Summarize/aggregate statistical forecasts
  • Gather, analyze and validate NPI, EOL, Sell-through, Promotions, Weather, and VIO data and add to statistical forecast while maintaining visibility
  • Partner with Finance, Sales, Partner Results, Supply & Operations, and Commercialization to ensure demand consensus process delivers an agreed upon, workable volume forecast (short, mid, and long term)
  • Measure, diagnose and mitigate bias in the forecast
  • Analyze demand requirements and work with multiple stakeholders to achieve forecast accuracy and improvements.
  • Analyze supply and demand imbalances and facilitate resolution throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure throughout the S&OP process that gaps and overlaps are addressed, scenarios are completed, data is available and accurate, and issues are appropriately escalated to meet business objectives.
  • Work cross-functionally, foster new and existing business relationships, and ensure we have the latest market intelligence to build into demand plan.
  • Host S&OP meetings that engage cross-functional partners
  • Create the S&OP meeting minutes, communicate key conclusions to stakeholders, and perform follow-up of action items.
  • Represent the Planning function in various New Product Development projects and ensure smooth transition of new products from product management to distribution.
  • Act as a super user of planning tools.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience, including a role of similar responsibility/scale.
  • BA/BS degree in a supply chain, logistics, business, technical, or equivalent discipline.
  • Understanding of Planning, Scheduling & S&OP principles.
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to analyze Supply Chain Management (SCM) problems to develop and implement solutions.
  • Passion to drive continuous improvement through identification of root-cause solutions to key business problems.
  • Strong internal-customer orientation and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex SCM problems with the due sense of urgency.
  • Strong knowledge of forecasting techniques (Seasonal, Moving Average, Exponential Smoothing and Trending) and data sources, drivers influencing demand, input data preparation and collection, outlier identification, and focus forecasting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • APICS certification
  • Green Belt Certification
  • Knowledge of how forecasting drives Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Finite Scheduling and Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP)
  • Experience in Demand and Supply Planning, S&OP facilitation and/or implementation.
  • Experience with SAP, o9, Manugistics, or similar supply chain planning tool
  • Familiarity with the tools, methodologies, and disciplines of a lean six sigma environment.
  • Prior experience in a high volume, fast paced, customer-focused supply chain.
