Law enforcement position involves patrolling and enforcing relevant laws within Mississippi State Hospital. Work is performed under direct supervision of law enforcement staff/personnel of higher classifications. Assists on calls to provide Hospital security which involves responding to calls involving aggressive patients.
Employees at this level apply knowledge and experience to analyze situations and provide appropriate responses. Other duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigating traffic accidents, conducting vehicle searches, assisting staff with patients, conducting security checks on buildings after working hours, transporting newly admitted patients to buildings, providing transportation for the patients, providing medical transportation at night and on weekends and holidays, and providing animal control, which includes transporting stray dogs and cats to local animal shelters, and removing nuisance wildlife.
