Job Description: Senior Manager - Tank Fabrication

Position Overview

Virginia Transformer seeks a highly skilled Senior Manager - Tank Fabrication to lead and oversee tank fabrication operations at our Rincon, GA facility. This critical leadership role includes managing production, engineering, planning, and project execution, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality fabricated tanks for our transformer products. The position requires exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and a results-oriented mindset to meet operational and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead and manage the tank fabrication team, including engineers, planners, and the project manager.
  • Provide mentorship, development, and performance management for direct reports.

Production Oversight:
  • Oversee day-to-day fabrication operations to ensure productivity, efficiency, and quality standards.
  • Monitor fabrication processes, ensuring adherence to safety, compliance, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align production schedules with overall company goals.

Project Management:
  • Work closely with the assigned project manager to ensure timely execution of projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Address and resolve project-related challenges and bottlenecks.

Engineering and Planning Coordination:
  • Collaborate with engineers and planners to optimize designs for manufacturability and reduce costs.
  • Ensure accurate planning and resource allocation for tank fabrication.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tooling, and technology applications.

Strategic Initiatives:
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance tank fabrication efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize costs.
  • Lead efforts to adopt innovative technologies and processes in tank fabrication.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Partner with supply chain teams to ensure timely procurement of materials and components.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance teams to maintain and improve quality standards.
  • Provide updates to senior leadership on key metrics, project status, and operational challenges.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:
  • 20+ years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production management, preferably in a heavy industrial or transformer-related environment.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role managing multi-disciplinary teams.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication, welding processes, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
