Position Overview
Virginia Transformer is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Planner - Tank Fabrication to join our team at the Rincon, GA facility. This role is critical in coordinating and optimizing the planning of tank fabrication operations, ensuring materials, resources, and schedules align to meet production goals. The Planner will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain efficient workflows, minimize downtime, and deliver high-quality tanks on time.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning:
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for tank fabrication operations.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and fabrication teams to ensure schedules are realistic and achievable.
Adjust plans as needed to accommodate changing priorities, resource constraints, and unforeseen delays.
Material and Resource Coordination:
Ensure the availability of necessary materials, tools, and equipment for tank fabrication.
Work closely with the supply chain team to track material delivery schedules and address shortages proactively.
Optimize resource allocation to maintain production efficiency.
Collaboration and Communication:
Serve as a liaison between engineering, fabrication, and project management teams to ensure alignment on production priorities.
Communicate schedule changes and updates to all relevant stakeholders.
Provide input to resolve operational challenges and improve workflow efficiency.
Data Management and Reporting:
Track production metrics and performance against the schedule, identifying areas for improvement.
Prepare and distribute regular progress reports to leadership and team members.
Maintain accurate documentation of production plans, schedules, and changes.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance planning accuracy and operational efficiency.
Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce waste.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling, preferably in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with transformer manufacturing or heavy equipment fabrication is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in planning software and tools (e.g., ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel).
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials management, and production workflows.
