The C&I Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and growing an assigned portfolio of Middle Market Commercial and Industrial clients, such as performing the steps associated with underwriting and monitoring credit exposure to Middle Market Commercial and Industrial sized companies (e.g., revenues in the $20,000,000-$250,000,000+ range). In addition, the incumbent will support Middle Market Relationship Managers (RMs), along with the Credit Officer, as a critical part of the "deal team".
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and compile due diligence to draw conclusions on material current and future risks and mitigants.
Identify performance drivers, project future performance, and anticipate ability to repay debt; conduct industry research and market analysis.
Prepare credit memorandums and attachments (e.g., Financial Statement Spreads), including analyses of cash flow, collateral, and assessments of credit policy compliance and risk.
Review and develop financial models and incorporate complex structures or nuances.
Work with the RM, Loan Assistant (LA) and other associates to help see that approved credit is closed and boarded properly.
Use loan underwriting software (e.g., nCino) to originate credit and monitor performance and financial deliverables.
Interact with internal RMs, Portfolio Administrators, LA, Credit Analysts, the Commercial Loan Operations team members, Technology and Operations team members, Senior Loan Committee and Executive & Risk Committee, as well as fellow Commercial Division associates.
Interact with our external Middle Market clients, attorneys, accountants, and field examiners.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelors' Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with 5+ years' related experience.
Must have completed commercial credit training, consisting of financial statement analysis and loan structuring.
Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must have proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and with financial statement spreading software (e.g., Moody's CreditLens).
Must able to use loan underwriting software (e.g., nCino) and familiar with a Commercial Bank's credit processes and procedures.
Experience managing a Commercial and Industrial Middle Market portfolio for several years is preferred.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must have excellent listening ability and presentation skills.
