Starting Salary Range: $126,000 - $143,000- depending on experience

Location: Lynnwood, WA

Classification: Exempt

General Position Summary:

Procure industrial mechanical construction projects through effective marketing, communication, and negotiation.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Prospect for new project opportunities or long-term client opportunities with private clients and general contractors.

  • Maintain list of target clients and contact each regularly.
  • Use multiple sources to find new potential clients.
  • Cold call, warm call, set up appointments with potential clients.
  • Present UMC’s value proposition via in-person meetings, phone, and email.
  • Bring in invitations to bid on private projects.

2. Prospect for new project opportunities with public owners.

  • Search multiple sources for advertised projects.
  • Maintain registration on public owner’s sites.

3. Participate in go/ no-go decision for opportunities.

4. Prepare detailed, professional proposals.

5. Procure, develop, and maintain client contacts and relationships at engineering firms.

6. Develop conceptual estimates for projects.

7. Procure, develop, and maintain client contacts and relationships.

8. Develop conceptual estimates for projects.

9. Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope and specifications of project contract/subcontract.

10. Maintain/control documents in compliance with UMC Standards and contracts.

11. Be in full compliance with UMC Safety Program when on jobsites.

12. Be professional and uphold UMC Core Values.

13. Collaborate with UMC Marketing Group and provide content for marketing collateral material and proposals.

14. Manage early works equipment vendors/suppliers

15. Manage early works subcontractors

16. Aid in early work contract kickoff/rates/T&C’s

17. Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee's essential job functions.

Secondary Job Functions:

1. Review contract drawings, detail drawings and specifications.

2. Support and coordinate with project teams through preconstruction if needed.

3. Attend and contribute to internal business development meetings.

4. Assist in the bid process and the procurement of new work.

5. Perform design work as needed.



Position Requirements

Skills Required to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:

1. Excellent sales and negotiating ability

2. Basic understanding of Industrial customer’s process and need.

3. Basic understanding of Industrial construction materials and methods

4. Attention to detail – errors & mistakes can result in significant financial losses.

5. Strong work ethic – results driven

6. Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Project

Education/ Experience Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:

1. A minimum of five years’ experience in business development or sales in the local industrial market preferred.

2. Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering degree preferred.

Licensing or Other Special Certifications Required:

Maintain a valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
