Base5 Genomics - spun out of Stanford - is a genomic sequencing biotechnology company developing solutions in immunogenomics to provide best-in-class resolution of the most complex regions of the human genome. The genomics of the immune system is of critical importance for human health and understanding it at an individual level is a critical bridge to personalized medicine we must cross. Base5's innovative solutions are delivering insights into the immunogenomic regions (e.g. HLA, KIR) that will have an immediate and transformative impact on patients' lives.
Base5's founding team has deep technical expertise. Co-Founder and CEO Solomon Endlich has a PhD in theoretical physics from Columbia University but pivoted into molecular biology during his postdoc at Stanford University, where he laid the foundation of Base5 Genomics' proprietary technology in the lab of professor and co-founder Ashby Morrison. Co-Founder and Head of Data Analytics Liza Huijse has a PhD in physics from the University of Amsterdam and held postdoctoral positions at Harvard and Stanford prior to pursuing a career in computational biology. Supported by advisors with critical market insights and investors with expansive industry expertise, Base5 is well positioned to redefine immunogenomics and precision genomics and is currently raising its Series A financing round.
The Role
Base5 Genomics has developed a full stack solution with innovations in areas ranging from high molecular weight DNA targeting and sequencing assays to phasing, assembly and functional analysis pipelines. As its first product, Base5 Genomics delivers fully interpreted, high-resolution sequencing data for entire multi-megabase regions of immunogenomic interest. Base5's platform unlocks the information needed to identify critical genomic biomarkers for precision medicine and discovery, empowering clinicians and researchers in transplant screening, pharmacogenomics, drug and vaccine development, oncology and beyond. As the Wet Lab R&D Product Development Lead, you will be responsible for both strategic as well as technical contributions. You will lead the development of a competitive product portfolio aligned with Base5's short, mid and long term goals. You will also lead the design, execution, and analysis of complex experiments for the development of our first kit + compute product. You will grow and lead a team of highly motivated scientists, which will work in partnership with the compute team to develop new product lines as well as interact directly with customers to provide technical support.
