About the Role

Are you a visionary in interior design with a passion for leading creative projects? LEGEARD STUDIO, a premier architectural and design studio in the heart of New York City, is seeking an exceptional Senior Interior Architect. This role offers the opportunity to guide the design process, inspire a talented team, and create stunning, functional spaces that exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership: Lead and direct the development of interior design concepts, ensuring alignment with overall project goals, client preferences, and design standards.
  • Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understand their needs and expectations, present design proposals, and incorporate client feedback into the design process.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor junior interior architects and design teams, assign tasks, and ensure that project goals are met.
  • Concept Development: Translate project objectives into creative interior design concepts, establish the design vision, and oversee its realization.
  • Space Planning: Create and refine interior space plans, layouts, and configurations that optimize functionality and aesthetics.
  • Material and Finish Selection: Select materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment that align with the project's design concept and budget, considering aesthetics and sustainability.
  • 3D Modeling and Visualization: Produce 3D models, renderings, and visualizations to convey design ideas, layouts, and material choices to clients and project teams.
  • Construction Documentation: Oversee the preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, and construction documents to guide the implementation of interior designs.
  • Budget Management: Manage project budgets and costs related to interior design elements, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective design solutions.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure that interior designs meet local building codes, regulations, and safety requirements, especially regarding accessibility and egress.
  • Consultant Coordination: Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and contractors to integrate their expertise into the interior design and construction process.
  • Presentation Skills: Effectively communicate design concepts to clients, project teams, and stakeholders through presentations, visual aids, and mood boards.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Advocate for sustainable and environmentally responsible design practices, integrating eco-friendly design principles into projects.
  • Site Visits: Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, address design-related issues, and ensure that interior work aligns with design specifications.
  • Continued Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging design technologies, and best practices in interior design.
  • Peer Collaboration: Collaborate with other senior architects, interior designers, and project teams to share knowledge, mentor junior staff, and enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Interior Architect or in a similar leadership role within the design industry.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing innovative and successful interior design projects with experience in hospitality design, high-end residential design, and/or retail.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, rendering software, and design tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Exceptional space planning and material selection skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly design practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications are a plus.
