Position: Engineering Technician
On-Site Position: Brooksville, FL
At Spartronics, the Engineering Technician performs simple/complex tests, assembly, set-up, calibration, maintenance, and/or repair of manufacturing or test/inspection equipment. May be required to perform highly diversified product or component testing involving a wide scope of electrical tests. To provide production equipment support through both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities such as equipment repairs and adjustments, preventive maintenance and calibration, ESD compliance verification, and occasional relocation of equipment within the production area. May also include assisting production in operation of equipment to manufacture or test product as well as training production personnel in applicable maintenance procedures. Develop procedures to support maintenance and calibration activities. Work with Engineering personnel to develop new or evaluate and adjust existing processes. In addition, there may be Model Shop functions such as, assisting development engineers in fabrication of prototypes, and fabricating custom jigs and fixtures.
What a Day Looks Like:
Assist Engineering in planning, data gathering and set-up of process controls/studies and inspection requirements.
May troubleshoot, repair, program and calibrate PWB assembly and production equipment alone, or as part of a team May write calibration/maintenance instructions for equipment. May be responsible for maintaining calibration records.
May build custom fixtures for product manufacturing from engineering instructions.
Set up and troubleshoot mechanical equipment with minimal support from Engineering.
Must be able to work overtime on short notice to meet delivery deadlines with minimal supervision. May also be required to be on call after assigned shift is completed.
May assist in the electronic repair to production machinery. May be required to make machine adjustments, set up work area, and use tools such tools such as multi-meters and other devices to repair production equipment.
May be required to operate equipment such as reflow ovens, wave solder, aqueous cleaners, and various bench tools and equipment.
Sets up and monitors operations of PWB assembly and related equipment. Performs routine analytical, logical, and mathematical calculations and measurements. Utilizes precise and exacting measuring instructions and devices.
May record performance results, analyze defect results, interpret variances or unpredicted changes in equipment or product which may affect results of operations and data gathering. Suggest resolution/solutions and may test and implement solutions.
In conjunction with the line supervisor and Industrial Engineering is responsible for training production operators in equipment operation as required.
Expected liaison with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and customers/vendors.
Respond to production requests for equipment support using advanced diagnostic skills to determine root cause of issues and perform necessary equipment repairs or adjustments to correct problems and return equipment to fully operational status. (may be required to attend manufacturers training offsite to acquire specific advanced diagnostic skills to support production equipment)
Determine parts needed to repair production equipment using equipment manuals and manufacturer's technical support resources and complete requisition forms to order these parts. May also be required to manage inventory of spare parts and research alternate suppliers or perform cost comparisons to generate cost savings.
Perform various scheduled routine maintenance, calibration and ESD compliance verification activities as instructed in applicable procedures.
Facilitate various maintenance and calibration services performed by equipment manufacturers and third party suppliers.
Enter all equipment activities and events (both scheduled and unscheduled) in equipment database to maintain equipment history to meet all applicable compliance requirements. May be required to run reports from database to facilitate scheduled equipment maintenance and calibration.
Assist with relocation of production equipment in manufacturing areas. Work with Facilities Maintenance Dept. to disconnect, place equipment in a state safe for movement, level, align, connect data and control wiring, setup and test production equipment to validate proper operation after reinstallation.
Work with Engineering personnel to introduce new product or processes, evaluate/adjust existing processes, perform DOE studies, make modifications to equipment

Requirements:
Education/Experience: Associates degree or equivalent experience minimum with Electronics Manufacturing.
Ability to track and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with several simultaneous projects.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Full color vision is an essential job requirement. Color identification test may be required pre-hire.
