The Associate Director, US Congress Strategy will work closely with Medical Affairs sub-teams, Commercial Operations and other key cross-functional stakeholders to provide project management for the strategic planning and execution of medical affairs activities at major US congresses. Additionally, this role will be responsible for content development and execution of industry sponsored scientific symposia funded by argenx, as well as other educational congress booth tactics. This position will report to Head of Integrated Medical Capabilities.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Lead coordination, planning and execution of all congress-related tactics working closely with Medical Affairs sub-functions (eg, Medical Information, US Field Medical, Operations and Publications) to ensure a comprehensive and impactful presence at major US congresses
Provide strategic direction on the development and execution of industry sponsored symposia at major US congresses, partnering both with internal and external stakeholders to develop high quality scientific content
Partner with Medical leads to drive the development of Medical Affairs congress booth content and interactive educational activities
Lead pre-congress planning sessions and post-congress information sharing meetings for Medical Affairs function
Responsible for informing internal stakeholders across the organization on Medical Affairs activities at all major congresses
Liaise with Medical Affairs functions to support the review and management of all requests for sponsorships at major medical conferences, and ensuring alignment of sponsorship level with strategic priorities
Partner with Head of Medical Affairs, Head of Integrated Medical Capabilities, Medical Affairs Operations, Finance, and all cross-functional stakeholders to develop annual budget to support medical affairs congress sponsorships, symposia, and other activities
Desired Skills and Experience:
Ability to understand, critically analyze, and summarize complex scientific and medical data into impactful deliverables across live and digital channels
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work across indications simultaneously
Experience in leading planning and execution of scientific symposia and digital scientific content in the biopharma industry
Experience in developing, communicating, and implementing a comprehensive medical affairs congress plan
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, matrix, team-oriented structure
Strong ability to network and partner with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate/promote cross-functional collaboration
Prior experience in effectively navigating MLR review within a biopharma organization
Detailed understanding of industry regulations and practices relating to Medical Affairs
Education and Qualifications:
PharmD, PhD, or MD in related Life Sciences discipline. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered
3+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience leading the development and execution of industry sponsored symposia and scientific presentations
Scientific content development experience in neurology, immunology or rare disease across a variety of platforms, channels and venues (e.g. symposia, videos, webinars, website content, infographics, posters, oral presentations)
Successful record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets and critical paths
Ability to travel ~25% domestically
