Our Field Service Technicians at Solar Manufacturing play a vital role in installing and keeping customers' equipment running. With customers nationally and internally, this role will not only see advanced technology be developed but you'll also be able to help customers get access to it!
To meet our customer's needs, this role is expected to travel to customer facilities throughout the US about 50% of the time. The other time will be spent in our brand-new state-of-the-art 50,000-foot facility in Sellersville, PA building and testing furnaces to be shipped to customer sites.
What you'll do
As an Installation/Service Technician, you'll work alongside the engineering and production team at our Sellersville, PA location to build and test furnaces before they are shipped to customers. Once shipped, you'll travel onsite to install, troubleshoot, and help train customers on the equipment. Ongoing customer support via email, phone, and onsite visits will continue past the installation phase to ensure our customers have the support they need to keep their operations going. While every day might be a little different, you can expect to do the following:
Perform pre-shipment furnace testing and preparation
Assist, test, troubleshoot, and oversee the installation of furnaces on customer sites
Provide initial and ongoing customer training onsite and remotely to offer technical support for equipment and system issues
Handle warranty repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, pyrometry, vacuum leak detection services, and hot zone installations and repairs
Domestic and international travel up to 50%, sometimes with short notice due to customer emergencies
Perform all other duties as assigned
What you need to thrive in this role
2+ years of experience in mechanical, machinery, or electrical repair service and/or installation field
Ability to interpret and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams
Working knowledge of industrial control systems and PLCs (Allen Bradley, RS Logix or other PLC software)
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to problem-solve effectively
Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to make good judgment decisions
Comfortability with travel throughout the US and sometimes internationally
Technical degree or technical military training preferred
