ABSC Director

Reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Administration, lead the university's financial shared service center, the Administrative Business Service Center (ABSC), in its mission to deliver high-quality, efficient, and effective financial shared service solutions to administrative departments throughout UVM. Manage team of professional and support staff who provide strategic analytical and transactional financial services to customer departments and divisions. Inspire and strengthen a team culture of continuous improvement, innovation, effective change management, and financial service excellence. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the University. Develop and maintain working knowledge of customers' financial positions, goals, and needs. Collaborate with University leadership, customers, ABSC staff, and central finance offices to develop and continuously improve ABSC financial services and business process solutions that support the advancement of the UVM mission and the effective use and preservation of UVM's financial resources.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field and seven years related experience required. Must be capable of innovation, vision, and possess the ability to effectively institute change. Demonstrated financial responsibility and comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and analysis, strategic planning, and resource allocation. Able to creatively and effectively lead a team of professional staff in a complex organization. Understanding of financial internal control concepts and the implementation of internal control systems required. Demonstrated ability to participate and actively manage change in a business environment. Managerial, decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop people on a day-to-day basis, inspire a high level of commitment and performance, manage relationships, and influence outcomes. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents. Advanced computer proficiency including ERP and Excel software applications required.

Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position, Open to current UVM employees only
