Seeking a skilled and innovative Systems Engineer to join our cutting-edge lab focused on designing and building software to identify and analyze fake networks of social media accounts. This position will develop tools and algorithms that leverage advanced data analytics, machine learning, and network analysis to uncover coordinated inauthentic behavior. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects at the intersection of technology, cybersecurity, and social media integrity. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
70% - Essential - Design, develop, and maintain software solutions to detect patterns indicative of fake or coordinated social media networks.
10% - Essential - Integrate APIs and external data sources to enrich datasets and improve detection accuracy.
10% - Essential - Conduct rigorous testing and validation of software to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
10% - Essential - Document software designs, processes, and results to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Work Experience - 1+ years in software development with proficiency in Python, Java, or similar programming languages. Familiarity with data analysis and machine learning frameworks. Experience with databases, pipelines, and processing large datasets. Knowledge of social media APIs (e.g., Twitter, Meta, TikTok) and their data structures. Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile software.
