We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Environmental Health & Safety in our Miramar, FL location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, developing, coordinating, promoting and monitoring Environmental, Health and Safety standards in accordance with Federal and State regulations for Garmin properties in addition to leading and managing a team of Environmental Health and Safety Specialists.
Essential Functions
Lead development and training of Garmin's safety and environmental programs
Manage the maintenance of Material Safety Data sheets
Create and administer company-wide safety management and conduct training for Hazard Communications, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, and Hazardous Material Disposal
Represent Garmin International to appropriate external organizations regarding plant safety management, including related ISO certification programs
Monitor federal government for changes in OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations that may affect ongoing business activities
Lead/manage accident investigation and near miss reports for incidents on Garmin property
Develop/maintain environmental health and safety KPIS
Represent Garmin International to external organizations regarding environmental health and safety
Responsible for developing process improvements on existing safety programs, monitor Contractor safety programs, and author/maintain departmental policies and procedures
Enforce rules/guidelines of personal conduct and company policies as outlined in associate handbook
Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure associate safety
Build/maintain high performing team(s) by recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent
Promote team member engagement and effectiveness by providing constructive feedback and promoting personal development, including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals and facilitating conflict resolution if needed
Develop/manage team and individual performance and capacity metrics to identify successful operations or areas needing improvement, ensuring all organizational objectives are met
Demonstrate ongoing personal development, professional growth, and continuous education
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related Health or Safety field
Must possess a minimum of 7 years environmental health and safety work experience performing a role substantially like the essential functions of this job description
Must possess 3 or more years of people management experience
Must possess demonstrated knowledge of accepted safety, hazardous materials, and environmental regulation and practices
Must possess demonstrated project management experience relevant to Garmin's business needs for performing the essential functions of this role
Must possess demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and State and Federal regulations
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across functional and organizational lines
Must possess proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
Must be detail-oriented, work proactively/effectively with little supervision, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism
Desired Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification
Hazard Analysis and/or safety management systems experience
