Mission Operations Engineer

Senior Mission Operations Engineer serves as an expert on the Logistics and Engineering Support (LENS) contract within the Deep Space Logistics Project at NASA Kennedy Space Center. The Mission Operations Engineer is expected to develop and/or apply expertise in flight operations and ground segment requirements and integrate activities for Gateway Logistics Services (GLS) missions under the responsibility and management of the Gateway Deep Space Logistics (DSL) Project.
Aegis Aerospace has been selected by NASA to provide insight, surveillance, systems engineering, analysis, and mission operations support services to the Deep Space Logistics (DSL) Project at the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Under the Deep Space Logistics Engineering Support (LENS) contract, our employees will provide engineering support to NASA to review and assess activities of the Gateway Logistics Services (GLS) IDIQ Contract Commercial Service Provider. This effort may include the review and assessment of the requirements, design, analysis, testing, manufacturing, verification, validation, assembly, integration, checkout, mission preparations and operations required to deliver cargo and payloads to the lunar Gateway, or for other DSL mission projects and interests.
Responsibilities:
Participate in operational panels and working groups to review new Program requirements and assist in formulating Project recommendations.
Collaborate with Gateway Mission Integration and Flight Operations to ensure compliance with Program requirements for integrated operations and training.
Support the development of mission Request for Task Order Proposals (RTOP) in coordination with the Contracting Officer and Contracting Officer Representative.
Oversee joint NASA/Provider tests and simulations to ensure performance standards are met.
Participate in operational panels and working groups to review new Program requirements and assist in formulating Project recommendations.
Support GLS mission operations planning and flight procedures across all mission phases, including launch, transit, and disposal.
Monitor and review GLS contract deliverables for technical adequacy and requirement compliance.
Evaluate change requests and ensure cohesive organizational communication.
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree in aerospace, Systems, Software engineering or other engineering degree (Master's degree is preferred).
5+ years of direct experience.
Knowledge of FOD terminology and processes related to flight operations.
Experience with flight control positions, such as the Inventory and Stowage Officer (ISO).
Familiarity with web-based tools used by flight control teams, including: Joint Execute Package Development and Integration (JEDI), Operations Planning Timeline Integration System Viewer (OPTIMIS). or eProc.
Experience with pre-flight operations planning, development of integrated procedures/flight rules, pre-flight training, or real-time mission execution for human spaceflight vehicles.
Experience performing technical operations including risk management and decision making which provided knowledge of spacecraft or launch vehicle design and operations, aspects related to hardware, software, flight control, flight design, orbital mechanics, launch services, and/or ground support systems.
Participation in integration of ground, crew, and spacecraft capabilities.
Experience integrating a variety of technical discipline products or recommendations (e.g. mission changes, requirements, system capabilities; operations concepts).
Experience providing inputs to management on technical issues, processes, or organizational recommendations/positions.
