CLASSIFICATION: Journeyman Welder Fabrication Specialist; CBA Rate $28.50/hr
GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time
REPORTS TO: Supervisor
POSTING DATE: Internal (12/17/2024); available to external applicants (12/23/2023)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fabricate components as needed from drawings and/or specifications provided by the government for use in climatic simulation or plant operation. Provide welding support for all shops at MCL for maintenance and operational needs.
GENERAL DUTIES:
OTHER DUTIES: Operate climatic simulation equipment, air make-up equipment, aircraft tie-down and exhaust ducting, and many other miscellaneous pieces of equipment throughout the facility.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have a current welding certification from an American Welder Society Accredited Test Facility. Must have experience with operation and maintenance of welding equipment and performing TIG, MIG, acetylene/oxygen and arc welding on alloys, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast steel and aluminum. Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license. This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in temperature extremes from -65 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit or greater. Works at heights up to or in excess of 80 feet in elevation from ladders or high reach equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires good physical conditioning; ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, crawl, and work in awkward positions.
