About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Securities Operations Specialist overseeing Funding and Liquidity for Wells Fargo Clearing Services, playing a pivotal role in overseeing complex funding and liquidity operations, ensuring the accuracy of cash movement and managing risk. As a senior member of the team, this position requires extensive experience in cash management, regulatory compliance and process optimization. The Lead Securities Operations Specialist serves as a key resource for mentoring junior staff, providing subject matter expertise, and acting as strategic partner in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of funding operations.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex lifecycle initiatives and support tasks, including those that are cross-functional with broad impact, and act as key a participant in large-scale planning and deliverables; identify opportunity for process improvements within Securities Operations
  • Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term operational tasks or challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors
  • Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted situations related to a full process within a trade environment while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that influence or lead team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and mid-level to senior managers to resolve issues and achieve goals; may lead projects, teams or serve as a mentor
  • Manage and develop expertise in the following operational processes including client account onboarding, cash payments, customer service, funding operations, custodial operations, securities settlement services, structured loan operations, and general ledger reconciliation
  • Resolve complex escalated issues within the scope of responsibility in Security Operations
  • Research complex business risks, develop policies, enhance customer satisfaction, and review time sensitive documents and transaction requests
  • Exercise independent judgment in understanding trade settlement and influence workflow controls to minimalize the effects of operational breakdowns
  • Lead overall effectiveness of the team according to plans; monitor daily securities and cash related production work
  • Lead implementation of projects, new or revised processes, and procedures that require coordination among operation teams and perform analysis for initiatives that support business strategies making decisions on matters with financial impact and risk
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements, proactively addressing any issues to minimize operational risks. Support the Supervisor by offering deep insights into the funding processes, advising on best practices, and contributing to strategic decision making
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Securities Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with payments or funding related roles, with a strong understanding of cash management and liquidity operations
  • Understanding SEC 15C3-3 Customer Protection Rule and the requirements
  • FINRA registration including Series 99 or 7 (or FINRA recognized equivalents)
  • Expertise with general ledger functions and their integration into financial operations
  • Ability to collaborate with group Treasury Liquidity Risk Management (LRM) to ensure funding is positioned for the entity
  • Familiarity with Liquidity Management and knowledge of ways that can be accomplished
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor staff and step into a supervisory role as needed, overseeing team operations, making key decisions, and ensuring continuity of service
  • Provide direction and support during high pressure situations, demonstrating strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders, offering updates and addressing any escalations in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a track record of process improvement
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor staff and step into a supervisory role as needed
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and point of contract for funding related matters
  • Monitor KPIs related to cash management and liquidity, identifying trends and addressing any performance gaps
  • Support the Supervisor in identifying talent and developing succession plans for key roles within the team
  • Ensure timely execution of daily funding activities with 100% accuracy
  • Support the Supervisor by offering deep insights into funding processes, advising on best practices, and contributing to strategic decision-making
  • Lead initiatives to streamline workflows and optimize resource allocation focusing on delivering high-quality results with speed and accuracy
  • Collaborate with the offshore support team and onshore staff to implement enhancement and best practices
  • Manage complex client queries and escalations, maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism
  • Provide feedback and guidance to team members, helping them build their skills and advance in their roles within the team
Position location: Charlotte, NC - CIC Customer Information Ctr.

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Registration for FINRA Series 7 or 99 must be completed within 120 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite may also be required
This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check.
