Delta Star has an immediate opening for Production Supervisor DIW (Nights).



Full Time, Salary Position




Purpose


Meet production goals set by DIW management that are defined by Quantity (units, parts, details), Quality (Standards and Procedures), Time (hours, cycle time) and Resources (employees and materials assigned to products). Ensures production procedures are followed to meet standards of quality and maintains a safe and clean work environment.


Main Responsibilities


Supervise a medium to large group of employees involved in plant production operations. Work is generally of a technical nature with the ability to make decisions within the limits of general standards and practices. New products, unclear instruction or unexpected circumstances will require guidance from a direct supervisor or engineering before proceeding.


Specific Duties

  • Practices and enforces safety. Works with employees to develop and implement work area S5S. Performs weekly safety observation and S5S self-assessment tours.
  • Responsible for the productivity and evaluation of employees under his/her lead.
  • Effectively manages and uses materials when delivered for product assembly.
  • Ensures correct material allocation to jobs as prescribed in the ERP system.
  • Keeps team discipline on reporting material shortages, defective and lost parts to make sure replacements are bought to minimize impact on the production schedule.
  • Responsible for providing tools required for work area and department. In close collaboration with the maintenance team keeps production tools and equipment working properly by preventing unplanned outages.
  • Meets and maintains quality requirements.
  • Keeps management informed of developments as they occur.
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union (where present), and management.
  • Understands and consistently administers the local labor agreements, participates in local labor relations activities.
  • Motivates, trains, and develops employees to effectively perform their job utilizing standard methods.
  • Identifies development needs for new and existing employees related to the product and processes. Plans for selected workers to attend classes at the DSI Education Academy.
  • Drives accountability to employees and hold them to standards of DSI practices. Accountable for delivering subassemblies and components are required by specification and quality standards, self- inspected and ready for quality gate inspections.

Education & Experience

  • College degree, or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Experience supervising employees in a union or non-unionized manufacturing environment, where applicable.
  • Previous work experience where attention to detail and personal accountability were critical to success.
  • Demonstrated experience in solving complex technical issues in manufacturing. High level analytical ability where problems are complex.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and procedure, knowledge of basic math.
  • High level oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic technology of an area assigned.
  • Ability to translate high level plans (month) to a daily and weekly work area plan that is communicated to the team and followed to deliver work on time.
  • High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of organization.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures.
  • Maintains a professional and productive relationship with area management and co-workers.
  • Must have ability to work as self-starter and handle multiple priorities in a dynamic cross-functional team-based environment.
  • Moderate computer skills required.

Travel Requirements


Travel may be on occasion (less than 10%)
