SUMMARY: This Corporate Accounting position within the payroll area is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership of 6+ team members responsible for accurately recording and supporting Benefits and Payroll related accounting items. These tasks include accounting for plans such as 401k, stock purchase, medical, pension, as well as deferred compensation. This position will also manage accounting around vacation, holiday, severance, relocation, as well as the monthly payroll estimate process.
Responsibilities include :
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 6+ team members.
Provide strategic direction to Senior Leadership on Health Benefit Plan results.
Be a Strategic Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, and Legal.
Manage Benefit and Payroll Accounting Activities, Controls, and Audits.
Partner with 3rd party vendors, consultants, actuaries, benefit plan administrators, and auditors.
Partner with other departments on new and existing corporate policies and processes.
Provide timely, complete, and accurate reporting to internal and external customers.
Ensure Health Benefit Plan compliance with benefit related government regulations, US GAAP, plan requirements and Tyson accounting policies.
Research and implementation of new accounting standards as needed.
Reconciliation process for of associated balance sheet accounts.
Miscellaneous entries for payroll expenses and liabilities.
Special projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in an academic field directly related and essential to this job (Accounting or Finance degree preferred).
Experience: 7+ years related experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of SAP and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must be able to analyze requirements presented and convert to practical applications used with various payroll systems, payroll projects, controls, process flows, system/process integrations, accounting processes, etc. Working knowledge of PowerBI and Palantir is a plus.
Communication Skills: Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills. Will liaison with many other departments and must be able to articulate interactions and impacts of projects to payroll related systems and processes.
