Job Description:

The University of Oklahoma College of Professional and Continuing Studies (PACS) is seeking a Program Manager to lead the OU Economic Development Institute. OU EDI is the first and still premiere economic development professionals certification program in the country. The Program Manager will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Institute, including promotion and marketing to grow registration and attendance, as well as administrative and logistical oversight.


Responsibilities will include:



  • Managing daily program execution - organizing logistical details, communicating with participants, directing instructors, marketing courses, and contracting with vendors.

  • Maintaining & Improving financial performance of existing programs through lead conversion, optimizing registration fees, and evaluating expenses.

  • Cultivating expanded or new business growth opportunities in an effort to increase the reach of the program.  

  • Objectively reviewing existing programs for long-term viability.

  • Driving strategies to improve instructional quality and maintain national reputation of the program as the gold standard in the profession.

  • Strategic long-term program administration including overseeing budgets, supervising staff, processing payments, and evaluating financial-related issues.

  • Fostering positive relationships with college and campus constituencies, as well as program governance board.

  • Communicating with college leadership regarding questions, issues, opportunities, and results.

  • Developing unit and division goals and objectives.

  • Performing related duties as assigned.

  • Travelling to two annual overnight trips of 6 days each, and one overnight trip of 3 days as an exhibitor at the national conference.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor Degree AND:



  • 48 months of program development, program management, or related experience.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months related experience.


Skills:



  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with clients, faculty, and staff.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.

  • Able to evaluate projects / programs effectively and produce comprehensive reports.

  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively.

  • Strong initiative to solve problems.

  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives.


Certifications:



  • Valid Driver's License.


Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motion, grasp, feel, touch, communicate, hear and see.

  • Standard office environment.

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

  • Will be required to travel.

  • Will require contact with other departments and university officials.


Departmental Preferences:



  • Knowledge of economic development profession.


Supervision:



  • This position will supervise up to 3 staff members within the OU EDI team.
