Job Description:

SUMMARY:


The Managing Director, AF Group IT Delivery directs the full information technology lifecycle for solutions delivery, production support, and applications maintenance spanning AF Group's multi-line property & casualty (P&C) product portfolio. This role partners with the Emerging Markets CIO and AF Group business leaders to perform strategic and operational planning, ensuring that the application delivery process and deliverables are effectively designed and implemented. The ideal candidate is a results-driven P&C IT leader with experience in Agile product delivery and transitioning from legacy P&C business applications to leading platforms such as Guidewire. This is a highly visible senior leadership role where you can be a significant contributor to an enterprise digital transformation in a high-energy growth environment.



RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:


  • Leads the AF Group IT division's application development and support activities including developing IT strategies and roadmaps, implementing projects, and ensuring systems availability and ongoing applications health
  • Guides IT strategic and operational planning to achieve AF Group business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems
  • Oversees all technology aspects of data and digital programs in partnership with business product owners and stakeholders through utilizing the most appropriate technology platforms to support key business strategies
  • Leads IT strategic and operational governance processes to ensure IT activities align and adhere to company policies, industry regulatory requirements, and Emerging Markets' technology, process, and sourcing standards
  • Transitions AF Group's solutions delivery model from a waterfall methodology to Agile and DevOps through partnering with business leaders, using effective change management, and leveraging Emerging Markets' Agile and DevOps standards and centers of excellence (CoEs)
  • Identifies and follows through on opportunities for the cost-effective investment of IT resources, including staffing, sourcing, new technology acquisitions, and vendor maintenance spend
  • Provides thought leadership on P&C industry technology trends through participation in industry IT working groups and staying connecting to industry digital innovations including those driven from the InsureTech community
  • Develops workforce plans and invests in developing and growing a diverse and talented team in partnership with Emerging Markets' Human Resources and IT Sourcing & Vendor Management functions
  • Develops, tracks, and controls operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets in partnership with Emerging Markets' Finance and IT Performance Management functions


DIRECTION EXERCISED:



Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:




EDUCATION:



Bachelor's degree in a related field required. A master's in computer science, MBA, or other advanced degree is desirable. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.



EXPERIENCE:



Fifteen years of progressively more responsible experience in IT solutions delivery in a P&C company with 10+ years leading IT teams in the delivery of strategic programs and projects. Experience in leading teams in an Agile solutions delivery operating model is highly desired.



SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:


  • Experience in P&C insurance IT leadership is required
  • Strong track record of evaluating, analyzing, designing, implementing, and monitoring P&C vendor software solutions such as Guidewire is required
  • Experience in managing on-premise IT solutions, cloud hosted solutions, and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions
  • Experience in leading the strategy, planning, and implementation of leading-edge data and digital solutions
  • Program leadership for IT transformations
  • Ability to organize and work effectively with large teams made up of internal staff and external onshore/offshore vendors
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management
  • Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure the success of individuals and teams
  • Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques
  • Strong collaborative problem solver
  • Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines

Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.

Pay Range



Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $187,500 and $314,000
