Prepare detailed estimates for heavy civil roadway projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Ensure estimates are accurate, timely, and aligned with project specifications.
Analyze project plans, drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine the scope of work and develop an understanding of project requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to prepare comprehensive bids and proposals for various roadway construction projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and codes.
Perform quantity takeoffs from project plans, including roadways, bridges, grading, utilities, and other infrastructure components.
Solicit quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, and assess their pricing and capabilities. Maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
Assist in the development of project budgets and provide ongoing cost analysis and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor actual costs against estimates and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Identify potential risks and challenges within the project scope and budget and provide recommendations for mitigating these risks.
Maintain clear, organized records of all cost estimates, proposals, bid documents, and project changes. Provide regular status reports to project managers and senior management.
Work closely with internal teams (engineering, design, project management) and external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, vendors) to ensure all project requirements are understood and met.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Minimum of (3) years of experience in the heavy civil construction industry, with a focus on roadway and infrastructure projects.
Minimum (1) year field experience on heavy civil construction infrastructure projects
In-depth understanding of civil roadway construction processes. Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
