The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS)Supplier Management Engineering Support Team (SMEST) is seeking a highly motivated and talented mid-level Manufacturing Engineer to join our team located in Berkeley, MO. At Boeing, our Manufacturing engineering teams have the unique opportunity to support the fabrication and assembly for the next generation Air Force Trainer, bombers and tactical fighter aircraft, autonomous air vehicles, rotorcraft, advanced airborne sensors, space vehicles, satellites, weapons systems, and much more.
We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate who prioritizes safety and quality. The primary focus for this position is to provide technical expertise in support our supply base. The ideal candidate will lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in analyzing product development, complex producibility studies and production/tooling philosophies.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Provide technical support to the Supplier Management in the form of market research, technical evaluations, tooling proposal reviews and support of work movement/transfer
Manage and improve engineering data flow through our internal and external supply chain stakeholders
Resolve complex technical problems
Serve as a project manager to ensure that contract requirements, specifications, design criteria and schedule performance are integrated and maintained
Communicate with internal/external stakeholders to ensure products and services meet requirements
Create ME models and processing specifications
Represent the Engineering function as an active and knowledgeable team member with suppliers and other internal functions
Provide onsite Supplier Technical Assistance to support high impact recovery efforts
Solid understanding and ability to read technical drawings
Fluent in manufacturing engineering technology- familiarity with most common manufacturing processes used in aerospace (metals, non-metallic, composites, etc.)
Comprehensive understanding of fabrication equipment i.e. hydropress and and machining gantries.
Comprehensive understanding of sheet metal fabrication tooling and machine tool relationships to Master tooling and MBD models.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. S ecret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience): (see required education and experience for this level below)
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
3+ years of experience in manufacturing or production engineering
3+ years of experience in project management
3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Manufacturing and production engineering experience of sheet metal and common metals
Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills
5+ years of customer-facing, or equivalent, experience
Typical Education/Experience:
Level 3
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
