*This role is eligible to be performed remotely, however, if you reside within 60 miles of Lands’ End’s office in Dodgeville, WI or New York City, you will be expected to collaborate onsite in a hybrid fashion for up to 12 days per month.

The Demand Planning & Promotions Manager drives demand forecasting, promotional planning, and decision-making across our business. This role plays a critical part in analyzing the impact of promotional activities, marketing efforts, understanding competitive market dynamics, and providing actionable insights to guide leadership decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, forecasting, demand planning, and business strategy, with a keen ability to translate complex data into clear, impactful recommendations.


Demand Planning and Promotional Planning



  • Develop and maintain robust forecasting models to predict the impact of promotions, catalog mailings, and digital marketing on demand, revenue, and profitability.

  • Develop and maintain customer and channel demand plans that tie to overall corporate financial plans.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Customer Insights, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Operations) to align promotional strategies and expected demand.

  • Create data-driven recommendations for optimizing promotion timing, discount levels, and product selection.


Business Analytics and Reporting



  • Analyze performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of promotional campaigns and provide insights to improve future strategies.

  • Design and deliver regular and ad hoc reports on key KPIs, including revenue growth, market share, customer acquisition, and retention.

  • Develop dashboards and visualization tools to communicate data insights effectively to stakeholders at all levels.


Competitive and Market Analysis



  • Conduct competitive analysis to understand market trends, pricing strategies, and promotion tactics of key competitors.

  • Identify opportunities and threats in the competitive landscape and recommend strategic responses.


Strategic Decision Support



  • Provide leadership with actionable insights to support decision-making regarding demand and promotion planning and resource allocation.

  • Partner with leaders to define and refine demand plans and promotion objectives that align with overarching business goals.

  • Leverage predictive analytics and scenario planning to anticipate market changes and adjust promotional strategies accordingly.


Skills



  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.

  • Experience with forecasting models and statistical tools (e.g., Python, R, or similar).

  • Solid understanding of promotional strategies and their impact on demand and profitability.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data in a clear and actionable manner.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at all organizational levels.

  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods industries.

  • Knowledge of machine learning or AI-driven forecasting techniques.

  • Familiarity with pricing and revenue management principles.


Leadership Responsibilities



  • Lead and manager a team of 1-2 employees.

  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.

  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

  • Set performance expectations and goals for team members.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

  • Identify and address performance issues through coaching and disciplinary actions when necessary.

  • Participate and recruitment and onboarding of new team members, as needed.

  • Identify training needs within the team and coordinate relevant development programs, encourage continuous learning and skill development among team members.

  • Serve as liaison between upper management and team, conveying organizational goals and expectations.

  • Address conflicts or issues within the team promptly and effectively.

  • Manage team resources, including workload distribution and project assignments.

  • Ensure optimal utilization of team member’s skills and expertise.

  • Collaborate with upper management to establish team goals aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of department strategies.


Education & Experience Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Data Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, business analytics, or a similar role.

  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams.
