Invenergy, LLC is actively seeking a Director - Construction, EHS with 6 to 10+ years of experience to be based in the Chicago office.
Description
The Director - Construction, EHS will oversee Invenergy EHS programs for the Construction team and establish safety programs and expectations from an "Owners Representative" perspective as they are delivered by various general contractors performing work at sites under construction across the Invenergy portfolio of projects. The person will review client submittals, reports and training programs to verify that the contractors are implementing their own safety plans and programs in accordance with Invenergy expectations and contractual requirements. The position will require the person to be proactive in engaging with internal and external leadership and frontline personnel having a direct and indirect impact on successful safety outcomes on our projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Work in partnership with Invenergy EVPs, Construction VPs and their direct reports to create a positive safety culture that promotes a collaborative project work environment with contractors and influences project safety performance.
Engaging with EHS personnel working for multiple contractors on the same project,
Engage with contractor personnel to develop and implement policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with EHS requirements for the project.
Provide oversight of safety consulting personnel engaged in monitoring and preventing safety and health hazards that could be present throughout the work sites.
Provide technical leadership and functional guidance to ensure regulatory standards are complied with and being enforced.
Complete all necessary internal and external reports to Invenergy, Federal, State, and local agencies.
Coordinate content of EHS audits of ES&H programs and walkdowns within the project, both by the various Contractors and by performing audits.
Report on Invenergy incidents that impact project operations, business, or personnel.
Oversee and assist with incident investigations performed by contractors.
Manage the input requirements into ISN relative to contractors' EHS programs and approval.
Develop and implement written EHS programs for Invenergy personnel working at/visiting construction sites.
Keep informed of all applicable existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations.
Oversee the development of basic EH&S training to employees and conduct training as needed.
Communicate programs to enhance employee awareness of safety prevention and compliance.
50% of the time will be in the field visiting various projects under development and/or construction.
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
Four (4+) years of construction safety-related experience
Five (5+) years of experience in a safety supervisory role
Must possess a valid driver's license
OSHA 30 - Construction Safety course completion
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable conditions including heat, cold, noise, and working in the presence of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment; position requires frequent standing/walking, vehicle operation, stair climbing and keyboard/mouse operations; often performing repetitive bending & stooping; occasionally using portable ladders, and lifting less than 25 pounds or less; rarely working with arms above shoulder level, power gripping/squeezing (and tools, levers, etc.), working at heights to include climbing wind towers, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, and lifting 25 to 50 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment.

Preferred Requirements
Certified Safety Professional certification preferred.
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
