Job Description Summary
This position directs all operations and financial planning for the Path BioResource: an online data management system for Shared Research Resources of P&LM and its partner departments, and a strategic planning hub for these resources. Path BioResource facilitates invoicing, usage tracking, reporting, and cost analysis for fee setting, guaranteeing audit and compliance for the following centers: Penn Cytomics, the Human Immunology Core, the Tumor Tissue and BioSpecimen Bank, Pathology Centralized Resources, Pathology Clinical Services Center (including Test Development, Apheresis and Clinical Services), and Radiology SRRs: including SA1F, CAMRIS and PET. These SRRs together invoice $1 million per month in thousands of transactions. Patl1 BioResource strategic planning tools derive from a cost analysis query built into Business Objects, augmented by ongoing assessment with Core directors and department leadership. This position also mentors and supervises six staff working within Path BioResource: a financial analyst who performs PO manager functions, travel and expense management, and quarterly AR reconciliation while assisting with budgeting and reporting; three department center staff who provide services and operational support for basic research PIs in SCL and JMB space; and two IT professionals who maintain the software platform for billing, reporting, and audit, and further develop workflow tools to enhance financial management. This position is responsible for PBR budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
