Job Description:

We are seeking a Bed Throughput Manager at in Los Angeles, CA.         

The Bed Throughput Manager will play a pivotal role in optimizing patient flow across the facility by closely collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including medical staff, executives, department heads, nursing teams, and frontline Environmental Services (EVS) staff. This position is responsible for managing throughput requests, overseeing Emergency Department (ED) to inpatient (IP) transfers, and easing direct admissions during peak volumes, while simultaneously enhancing patient experience and cleanliness metrics.

The ideal candidate will foster a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration, driving effective teamwork and championing service excellence in both clinical and non-clinical settings. The Bed Throughput Manager will actively oversee operations in the patient units, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, while working alongside frontline staff to elevate the overall patient experience and support high-quality service delivery at the bedside.

Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with hospital management and both departmental and interdepartmental teams to identify and address operational opportunities related to patient flow.

  • Develop and Implement Solutions: Assist in developing, evaluating, and executing action plans and strategies to improve transfer and patient flow processes.

  • Manage Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee the daily operations of patient flow, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Ensure Quality Communication: Establish clear communication standards, protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure effective and timely communication between all relevant teams.

  • Staffing and Development: Hire, train, and maintain appropriate staffing levels. Ensure personnel are equipped with the necessary skills through ongoing training, development, and performance evaluations.

  • Multitasking in Fast-Paced Environment: Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-energy environment, ensuring timely execution of patient flow operations while maintaining quality and service excellence.

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, analyze, and interpret operational and statistical throughput data to inform frontline staff and senior management of operational opportunities and areas for improvement.

  • Ensure Safe, High-Quality Care: Promote and maintain safety and quality care for patients, staff, and visitors. Adhere to Quality and Infection Prevention policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary guidelines, ensuring high-quality service delivery, time management, and resource allocation.

  • Promote Professional Development: Support individual staff growth by ensuring compliance with mandatory education and competency requirements.

  • Achieve Organizational Goals: Establish and meet organizational goals and objectives, contributing to the overall success of the hospital.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Employees in Healthcare are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a term and condition of employment at Xanitos, absent a legally required Medical or Religious exception, and are required to report their vaccination status and upload proof of vaccination via a secure online portal. 


  • High School diploma required.  College degree or equivalent work experience preferred. Must have one to three years of supervisory experience in a service-related field with high customer/client contact.

  • Strong focus on service excellence and quality, with a drive to consistently meet high standards.

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Skilled at working under pressure to meet established goals and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills, including strong public speaking and interpersonal abilities.

  • Self-directed with a sense of urgency and the ability to adapt quickly in dynamic situations.

  • Proven ability to lead and supervise teams effectively.

  • Knowledge of hospital operations, particularly emergency department and capacity management/throughput (preferred).

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Familiarity with productivity, financial operations, and reporting systems.

  • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, discretion, and decision-making under varying conditions.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a creative approach to problem-solving.

  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software

The expected salary range for this position ranges from $80,000 to $85,000 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if applicable to the position).
