The Quality Technician I performs quality checks in a timely manner for raw, work in process, and finished product through inspection, laboratory analysis, organoleptic testing and packaging status verification to ensure consistency.
Functions Performed:
Performs analysis on processing and packaging goods in a timely manner. Performs finished and in-process product analyses (Analyzes visual, organoleptic, weight, size, and moisture to ensure consistency, checks processing lines for type of product, correctness of labels, and date codes). Verifies & records roaster and pasteurizer temperature readings. Tests metal detectors for compliance. Performs pre-operational inspections on production lines. Checks packaging lines for type of product, label accuracy, date codes, lids. Oversees the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF 2000 system including food safety fundamentals, the food safety plan and the food quality plan. Takes appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF 2000 system.
Enters data for analysis, specifically product analysis performed on samples pulled from the processing lines and then enters results into the Infinity system.
Performs Daily Calibration on analytical instruments (scales and colorimeter).
Performs GMP Verification at the start of each shift verifying that practices on the floor are compliant against Good Manufacturing Practices Policy.
Performs any extra assigned duties as needed.
Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management
Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

Education, Experience and Knowledge:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Food quality experience is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Skills and Competencies:
Must be able to eat any snack product or nut variety.
Attention to detail, good record keeping and basic math skills.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods.
Ability to understand and operate the following testing equipment: calculator, analytical scale, moisture analyzers and color meter.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Organization skills including written and verbal communication, record keeping and creative problem solving.
Job Specific Requirements:
This position is subject to mandatory overtime based on business needs.
In the event that the Quality Technician I is absent, the department manager is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
