Job Description:

Who We Are

At r.World, we're transforming the live events industry with our award-winning, turnkey reusable cup system. Together with our partners, we're tackling the climate crisis by eliminating billions of single-use items that contribute to global waste. With over three decades of sustainability expertise, we've pioneered environmental awareness, climate action, and single-use waste reduction since 1990.

Our partners include renowned names like U2, Dave Matthews Band, Bon Iver, Maggie Rogers, and The Rolling Stones. We've implemented reuse programs in over 70 cities, 30 U.S. states, and 12 countries-and now we're bringing that impact to the D.C. area. As we prepare for our biggest year yet in 2024, we invite you to join our mission to revolutionize sustainability in live events.

Role:

We're seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Director to lead daily operations at our, D.C., wash hub. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is essential in ensuring smooth operations and delivering an exceptional reuse program experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all daily hub operations, including inventory management, wash-cycle productivity, staffing, logistics, and administrative activities.
  • Anticipate venue demand and create proactive plans to ensure a steady supply of sanitized cups for events.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records to support precise customer billing.

Team Management:
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and manage a high-performing team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Foster a collaborative, empowered, and accountable work culture.

Client & Partner Collaboration:
  • Represent r.World professionally in client interactions and at events.
  • Work closely with the Sales team to establish new venue locations, including staff training and placement of bins, signage, and inventory.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure financial and operational goals are met.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.

Safety & Facility Management:
  • Ensure the wash hub is clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Oversee maintenance schedules for equipment and vehicles to prevent downtime.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of leadership in operations, preferably in manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution.
  • Proven success in motivating and holding teams accountable while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Track record of managing projects and delivering results on time.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience driving box trucks (valid driver's license and clean driving record required).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate equipment like pallet jacks and 26' box trucks with lift gates.
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-changing environment.
  • Eager to learn, grow, and tackle challenges head-on.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Six Sigma or related project management certification.
