About the Role

The Prototype Technician builds prototypes for clients based on direction provided by customer prints. The purpose of these prototypes is to validate the form, fit and function of the industrial design.

Responsibilities
  • Builds prototypes per specifications.
  • Redlines drawings for changes/corrections.
  • Assesses challenges and risks of product.
  • Verifies vendor parts per specification.
  • Validates instruction sheets.
  • Presents ideas to engineering for alternate construction.
  • Assists as required to transfer information to manufacturing.
  • Installs prototypes in the field as required.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 plus years of previous prototype experience preferred

Required Skills
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit throughout the day.
  • Good good dexterity.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms and to bend and kneel.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
