Our client is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Purchasing Manager at their manufacturing facility in Columbus, OH. This role will primarily work onsite with travel to suppliers required approximately 3-4 days per month. This is an excellent "next-step" opportunity for a Senior Buyer or Purchasing Supervisor. The typical work week for this position will be Monday - Friday with approximately 40-50 hours per week. Relocation assistance is available for qualified applicants that reside outside of commuting distance.
Responsibilities
As a working manager, this position has responsibility for purchasing all raw materials used in the manufacturing process.
Develop and own the supplier engagement process, including supplier identification, quoting, negotiating, and structuring a supply base
Responsible for a total purchasing department budget of approximately $75mm
Maintains knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability and directs purchasing programs accordingly
Drive savings and cost avoidance on material purchases utilizing effective execution and implementation of negotiations and online bidding
Reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company and departmental policies
Communicate, align and initiate the material group strategies with cross-functional stakeholders including the sales, customer service, and logistics departments to ensure efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control process
Communicates with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale
Develops and implements policies and procedures related to purchasing and inventory control with a goal to maximize efficiency and optimize workflow
Up to 20% travel to domestic suppliers will be required, some international travel may also be required
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Purchasing and Supply Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration or other related field
Five years of buying or purchasing experience required with supervisory experience preferred
Purchasing experience with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive supplier
