Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Director

Position Summary:
The HSE Director will oversee and drive company-wide Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives, transforming the current reactive safety culture into a proactive, data-driven program. Reporting to the VP & General Counsel, this role will provide strategic leadership to a team of HSE professionals and work collaboratively across departments to enhance workplace safety, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
HSE Culture & Leadership
Develop and implement a company-wide HSE strategy aligned with business objectives.
Lead efforts to embed a proactive safety culture across the organization.
Collaborate with leadership teams to elevate the importance of safety and continuous improvement.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve HSE performance.
Risk Management
Analyze claims data and incident trends to identify risk areas and implement preventive measures.
Collaborate with insurance providers to optimize claims handling and reduce costs.
Implement policies and procedures that enhance risk management and loss prevention.
Incident Management
Develop a systematic approach to collecting, analyzing, and reporting incidents across all company sites.
Conduct investigations into accidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure timely closure of corrective actions and updates to processes based on findings.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and adjust company policies and practices accordingly.
Oversee environmental health and safety programs to minimize regulatory risks.
Training and Development
Develop and implement targeted training programs to educate employees on HSE policies and best practices.
Ensure company-wide completion of mandatory training within designated timeframes.
Team Leadership
Oversee and mentor a team of HSE professionals, including a HSE Specialist, and HSE Coordinator.
Assess current policies, procedures, and personnel to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification and OSHA 30-Hour Certification required.
7+ years of HSE experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Proficiency in data analysis and leveraging insights for decision-making.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations, and other relevant standards.
Exceptional leadership, change management, and communication skills.
Prior experience in a manufacturing or transportation environment is highly desirable.
