The Senior Procurement Specialist/Buyer will play a pivotal role in sourcing and acquiring capital equipment and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) items for the Company. This position will require strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of procurement processes, and a keen eye for value, especially through the startup phase of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing:
Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for capital equipment and MRO items.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers.
Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and quality of goods.
Resolve supplier disputes and performance issues efficiently.
Collaborate with suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for capital equipment and MRO purchases.
Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
Manage contract renewals and amendments.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock levels to minimize costs and avoid stockouts.
Implement inventory management systems and procedures.
Cost Reduction:
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as price negotiations, value engineering, and supplier consolidation.
Track and analyze purchasing data to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify and address compliance issues.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on capital equipment and MRO items.
Demonstration of strong organizational skills within an MRO storage facility and the ability to identify and prioritize critical needs for the operation.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in using procurement software and tools. Preference to relevant SAP experience and management of approved supplier lists.
Knowledge of contract law and procurement best practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in procurement (e.g., CPM, CPIM).
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Knowledge of specific industry standards and regulations.
