Director of Operations Position- Design Build Associates, LLC

The Opportunity:

Leadership - As the Director of Operations, you will be a key driver of day-to-day business, identifying improvements in operating initiatives, and overall operational success. Your leadership will Influence company operations, enhance efficiency, drive a commitment to excellence and ensure that the company's core values are upheld. Operational Excellence - At Design Build Associates we take pride in our ability to deliver high-quality construction and service projects on time and within budget. You will be responsible for understanding, overseeing, and optimizing operations to maintain and enhance our reputation for excellence.

Team Collaboration - Collaboration is central to our success. You will work closely with management, administration, the Construction Managers (CMs) and the Associate Construction Managers (ACM), on items concerning construction-related issues, project management, cost management, and human resources, to streamline processes and ensure the seamless execution of projects and overall company efficiencies.

The Role:

The Director of Operations will provide leadership, improve operational effectiveness and support the growth and efficiency of the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direction and leadership to all operational departments, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals, objectives and core values.
  • Develop and implement effective operational strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Support project management and company operations to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with management, administration, CMs and ACMs to optimize processes, improve resource allocation, and drive performance improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Manage/perform day to day office operations including administrative, accounting, IT and human resources.
  • Occasionally direct the management of construction projects.

Skills and Requirements:
  • Minimum ten years of operational management in construction or construction-related industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred.
  • Licensed general contractor preferred.
  • Experience working in occupied residential and/or planned unit development projects a plus.
  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding of construction project budgets, reading financial statements and life cycle costing.
  • Possess exceptional leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage projects and lead the construction process.
  • Must have strong customer service orientation. Represent the company in a positive, professional manner in all situations and circumstances, with tact and diplomacy.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with contractors, design professionals and homeowners.
  • Intermediate/advanced computer skills: Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and other software as necessary.
  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, and to remain in a stationary position, among other physical requirements, are essential functions of the position.
  • The successful candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to lead confidently without arrogance, establish rapport and build relationships of trust and respect and develop and maintain positive, cooperative relationships with clients, design and construction professionals, homeowners and co-workers; promote and develop professional relationships with architects, engineers, professional consultants and contractors.
