We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Packaging Design Lead to oversee the conceptualization, design, and execution of packaging projects from inception to production. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to deliver innovative packaging solutions that align with brand guidelines, marketing objectives, and sustainability goals. The Packaging Design Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure high-quality outcomes that drive brand growth and resonate with consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
Packaging Design & Execution
Oversee the end-to-end development of physical packaging projects, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and marketing objectives.
Create functional and aesthetic mockups to evaluate user experience and form.
Operate and maintain onsite 3D printers for prototype development and partner with vendors to produce appearance models.
Human-Centered Design
Utilize design, usability, and consumer research expertise to establish and advocate for user-centered product experiences.
Integrate insights from consumer behavior and research into the design process to create impactful packaging solutions.
Strategic Leadership
Collaborate with senior team members to spearhead the execution of packaging designs and project strategies.
Drive the implementation of innovative packaging visions, turning them into competitive brand-building advantages.
Sustainability & Material Innovation
Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact through innovative design approaches, such as minimizing material use, exploring recyclable options, and optimizing shipping efficiency.
Research and select materials that balance functionality, cost, durability, and environmental impact.
Prepare technical drawings and specifications for design intent release to vendors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Proven experience in packaging design, including prototype development and sustainability initiatives.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, CAD tools) and 3D printing technology.
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and consumer research methodologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
Strategic mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
This is a long-term contract opportunity, hybrid in Summit, NJ.
