The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) is seeking Business Innovation Consultant to assist with the administration of the Business Innovation Act. The Business Innovation Act is a suite of programs meant to assist businesses with new product creation and commercialization. This position will be responsible for the grant programs administrated directly by DED, including the Prototype grant, the Academic R&D grant, and the SBIR/STTR Phase 0 and Phase I/II matching grant programs.

Job Duties: Educate the public about grant programs, including potential applicants and other members of the business ecosystem. Refine program guidelines, applications, and other materials as needed. Oversee application intake and review, including independent analysis of application materials. Supervise project completion and answer grantee questions. Compile and analyze program data. Assist with report creation as required. All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.



Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any discipline related to the work assigned and two years of related experience. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge about startup processes, including financing terms and local investment options. Awareness of non-state technical assistance and financing providers in Nebraska.



Other:Regular and Reliable attendance is required. This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient in most desktop business software, including Word/Excel/Outlook. Able to learn grant management practices set by department. Strong written communication skills. Able to prepare and deliver presentations on program topics. Proficient in basic data analysis and reporting. Understand and track program and project budgeting.
