JobSummary:
The Instrumentation Design Lead will be responsible for leadinginstrument design in preparing 2D drawings and 3D models for the design ofcomplex offshore instrument systems utilizing CAD and intelligentinstrumentation database software.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
• Lead on Major Capital Projects, supervise andmentor others;
• Perform drawing corrections from suppliedmark-ups;
• Interface with other disciplines;
• Produce instrument plan drawings using GA's,piping plans, etc.;
• Produce instrument installation details usingengineering data sheets;
• Read and interpret vendor drawings andinformation;
• Read engineering data such as data sheets,instrument list, cause and effects, cable schedule, etc.;
• Create control systems architectural diagramsusing engineering data;
• Create Smart instrument cable block diagrams,cable and conduit routing and layouts, instrument and J-Box wiring diagramsusing info from P&ID's, GA's, IO list, and vendor data;
• Create cable schedules using cable blockdiagrams;
• Check instrument drawings of others;
• Create preliminary drawing register from SOW andBOD;
• Prepare man-hour estimates, schedules and CTR;
• Perform field work (independently and withoutsupervision) as required to obtain accurate information and create sketches forthe design of the project. Duration determined by the project requirements andproject management.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Requires accredited drafting training and disciplinetraining or have prior working experience
Requires a minimum of ten (10) years of Instrumentation draftingand design lead experience relating to Greenfield Deepwater Upstream Oil &Gas facilities using intelligent instrumentation software
Requires understanding of basic upstream process systems
Requires understanding of control systems architecturaldiagrams
Understand instrument cable block diagrams
Strong knowledge of Fire and Gas systems
Strong knowledge of Communication systems
Pertinent knowledge of NEC, IEC, NEMA, ISA & ANSI
Strong understanding of P&ID's
Basic knowledge of ISA Instrument Symbols andIdentification
Basic knowledge of Instrument drawing terminology &symbology
Proficient with design software i.e. (Hexagon SPI/SmartInstrumentation, AutoCAD, and E3D)
Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or othercommunication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time;
Sufficient vision or other powers of observation whichpermits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee toperform routine office duties;
Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes toperform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
