The Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs to ensure the hospital adheres to all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, as well as internal policies. This role involves auditing, training, policy development, and serving as a resource for compliance-related inquiries.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting in the development and execution of an annual risk assessment and compliance workplan.
Staying updated on changes in healthcare regulations and communicating relevant updates.
Educating staff members about their compliance obligations.
Engaging in oversight and monitoring activities related to health care billing and compliance with rules related to federal health care programs.
Reviewing and developing policies and procedures related to health care compliance.
Responding to compliance inquiries and conducting investigations where necessary.
Working collaboratively with a committee of other health care professionals to address the compliance needs of the organization.
Meeting with members of the Board of Directors periodically to update them about ongoing compliance matters.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Law, Business, or a related field required.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Health care experience preferred but not strictly required if the candidate has experience working in a compliance-related capacity.
Experienced health care practitioners (clinical and non-clinical) will be given consideration even if they lack formal compliance experience if they demonstrate other qualifications that reflect the ability to grow on the job.

Familiarity with hospital operations and healthcare standards.
